Chris graduated from Princeton along with her future-husband, John McPherson ’89, who was her next-door neighbor freshman year. Chris currently serves as the president of the Princeton Alumni Association of Nashville and has also performed leadership roles in Annual Giving, the Alumni Schools Committee, Young Alumni, and the Committee on Regional Associations since graduation. A varsity swimmer while at Princeton, Chris acted as team captain her senior year in addition to earning All-East and All-Ivy honors. Chris continued her involvement in swimming after college, founding and coaching numerous swim teams of summer league, age group, middle school, high school, college, and masters swimmers. She also reentered the world of athletic competition in US Masters Swimming, and began a tradition of hosting mini-reunions for PU swimming alumni twice a year at each USMS national championship meet.
Chris’ current position finds her daily on the pool deck at The Ensworth School in Nashville, TN, acting as head coach of the Ensworth Aquatics Masters program and as assistant coach for their high school team. Chris welcomes swimmers of all ages, ability levels, and goals, to swim with her masters’ team, and she focuses not only on proper technique and fitness, but, most importantly, on helping others to gain a love for swimming.
