Misa Sugiura

Misa Sugiura’s debut novel, “It’s Not Like It’s a Secret,” won the 2017-2018 APALA Award for Young Adult Literature and was included on Best of 2017 lists by Kirkus Reviews, YALSA and Seventeen Magazine. Before she began her career as a young adult author, Sugiura earned her Master of Education at Stanford University and taught English at a public high school in California for several years. She spent several more years as a stay-at-home parent. Sugiura lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, two sons, two cats, and a gray-banded king snake; she prefers lemon sugar cookies to chocolate chip, and pumpkin spice to peppermint. Her second novel, “This Time Will Be Different,” will be released in summer of 2019.
