M. Robin Krasny ’73

Robin Krasny has worked primarily in financial services since graduating from Harvard Business School in 1981. Over the course of her career she worked in institutional sales in fixed-income markets with Morgan Stanley in both New York and London and in emerging market equities for Oppenheimer and Co.

At the beginning of 2000, Krasny was offered an opportunity to launch a career in wealth management.  In 2004 she joined with a younger partner to provide multi-generational wealth management services.  At the beginning of 2011, they joined Morgan Stanley Wealth Management and subsequently formed Altera Wealth Management, a self-contained team within Morgan Stanley Wealth Management.

The Altera Wealth Management team now consists of nine members providing comprehensive wealth management advisory services. In addition to asset allocation, investment manager and investment selection, Robin personally manages 2 stock specific strategies that complement clients’ portfolios.

She and her team work with families to accomplish their financial goals and objectives.  They differentiate their approach with a planning emphasis that involves coordination with attorneys, accountants and other trusted advisors.  Comprehensive Wealth Management means helping families plan for longevity – executing strategies to grow and preserve wealth, minimizing tax impacts and helping clients decide on the disposition of their estates.

Krasny has been recognized by Barrons and Forbes magazine as a top 100 female financial advisor since 2012.

Through her personal history, she has become an advocate for individuals to develop personal financial literacy. She believes that personal financial management is misunderstood and feared. She is responsible for introducing a personal finance program adopted by Morgan Stanley for incoming analysts as well as sponsoring that course at Prep for Prep, a NY based non-profit organization serving high potential minority students on whose board she serves.

Among her other interests, Krasny is a supporter of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation and has attended the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival (Jazzfest) for 30 consecutive years.
