Kamna Gupta ’14

Kamna Gupta is a conductor and pianist whose diverse musical interests have led her to experiences spanning orchestral, operatic, and choral repertoires from the baroque to the contemporary. As an orchestral conductor, she has been active internationally: she has conducted in Germany, Russia, and the Czech Republic, including leading the Leipzig Barockorchester in the Thomaskirche in Leipzig. Previously highlights include working with the New York Youth Symphony as an apprentice conductor and as Conducting Fellow at the Atlantic Music Festival, recording many contemporary works by living composers. Her operatic credits include work on several new pieces: she has served as the assistant conductor of two premieres at Opera Saratoga, and she has also worked with the American Lyric Theater which champions composers of new opera. Later this season, Kamna will serve as assistant conductor at Sarasota Opera. Kamna is currently based in New York and in addition to her conducting activities, she is active as a pianist and harpsichordist.
