Laura Forese

Laura L. Forese ’83 is executive vice president and Chief Operating Officer of NewYork-Presbyterian, an integrated delivery system of academic medical centers, regional hospitals and employed physicians in metro New York. Forese has been affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian throughout her career in multiple clinical and management roles. In her current role, she has ultimate operating responsibility for the 10 hospital campus enterprise, which has revenue of more than $8B and more than 40,000 employees. Over 2 million people receive care each year at NewYork-Presbyterian which is affiliated with the medical schools of Columbia and Cornell. NewYork-Presbyterian’s multi-campus academic medical center has been the top rated hospital in New York on US News and World Report’s annual survey of “Best Hospitals” for 17 consecutive years and among the top 10 hospitals nationwide for the past 14 years. An orthopaedic surgeon, Forese graduated Alpha Omega Alpha from Columbia’s College of Physicians & Surgeons. She received her MPH in healthcare management from Columbia’s Mailman School. She chairs the board of the NIH Clinical Center, the largest research hospital in the US.   She is also a Trustee of Princeton University, a board member of the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation and serves as a director of Cantel Medical. A role model for women in leadership, Forese has been named among the 50 most powerful women in New York by Crain’s Business, “Mother of the Year” by the American Cancer Society and the Top 25 COO’s by Modern Healthcare.
