Katherine J. Chen ’12

Katherine J. Chen is the author of the novel, Mary B (Random House), which was published in late July 2018. After graduation, she worked for two and a half years as a literary assistant at Melanie Jackson Agency, LLC, a boutique literary agency specializing in literary fiction and serious nonfiction and whose clients include Ron Chernow, Nicole Krauss, Wole Soyinka, and Richard Powers. She has also interned at Farrar, Straus and Giroux, The New Yorker (in the Cartoons Department!), and served as a reader at The Paris Review and Levine Greenberg Rostan Literary Agency. At Princeton, she was awarded the Peter B. Lewis Summer Fund, the Ward Prize, and was a two-time recipient of the Bain-Swiggett Poetry Prize. She is a diehard fan of Agatha Christie (and British murder mysteries in general), Jane Austen and Hilary Mantel.
